Scroogle it!

One of the search terms that caught my attention faster than an espresso and woke-me-up; sitting bolt upright, into the world of work, on this crisp Mad March Monday Morning, was the intriguing term scroogle.org

It appears that not everyone loves Google. OK for some of you it might be old news but some of us tortoises, this sort of stuff filters in slowly, dribble at a time.

Here
is the story about one such critic who seems to have done something a lot more than splutter in his beer; Mr Daniel Brandt of Google watch.

His latest endeavor, however, actually offers Internet users the opportunity to use Google’s powerful search tools without personal data being collected by the company.

Scroogle filters searches through Brandt’s servers before hitting Google. It effectively hides the address of the searcher.

Brandt says he doesn’t save the search terms and deletes all his logs every week. Google, on the other hand, saves records on Internet searches for two years.

I do like this very much and a brief visit to his site helps clarify some of the myths and issues. Thank you Mr Brandt, I feel much better now.

If you have the time and inclination then a long article might be worth reading on Google vs. Evil.
